Split laptop - can it be fixed?

Hi, hope you don't mind me asking for help, I've tried searching here and google but I can't find an answer.

I stupidly picked up my laptop by the screen and as a result the part where the motherboard is kept has split so I can see the bits inside. It hasn't come off completly though and the laptop is working as normal - I just can't use the CD/DVD drive because that's the part where the split is most prominant.

Is it a write off or could it be stuck back together (not by me!)

Thanks:beer:

Depending on the make/model you may be able to buy a new/used plastic housing from Ebay or a specialist parts seller - you would then need to (or get someone else to) swap it over.
The trouble with cracks on something like that is that they tend to grow quickly, so glue may hold it a bay - or even fix it.

Thank you, I could have a go at sticking it back together but when I try and push it back together it won't go all the way - I'm worried that if I might break something! I'll have a look around for casing though, thank you

Unless it is a fault of the machine that makes the case prone to splitting, it is more likely that another owner of the same model may have broken a screen and be looking to offload it.
If you are lucky, you might find one going on ebay.

Thanks, it's an acer aspire. Had a look on ebay - looks like I can buy the seperate parts on there. Cheers
