Thanks for that - I thought I'd read somewhere that garlic needed a bit of prepping before use as the oil did something to it?
? Also, how long does it keep?
Guess what everyone's getting for Xmas then... seen some lovely (cheap) oil decanter things in Ikea that'd be perfect for this!!0 -
Sorry to say that I am entirely misinformed.
Apparently is it hazardous to add fresh herbs, chillis etc to oil. As the moisture in them can cause bacteria to grow in your oil.
The best way to flavour the oil is to saute your flavouring in the oil and then strain into jars. To get the look add dried herbs and chillis. They have a short life 2 weeks, but could be elongated by freezing until ready to give away.
Sorry about this. It's all news to me.

I emailed every company I could think of and asked for samples to fill party bags with. I've got a vast selection of everything from teabags to Listerine - all free
Brilliant idea thankyouSealed pot challenge 5430 -

These are the ones I've just bought and they come as bags. This particular seller (who I've used before) sends them out in batches. I've just ordered 100 of each size :eek: They're great for putting things in, but content ideas are always a struggle for me. Last time I made up "kits" for different members of the family (from this site ) and also made up the teacher ones for my daughters teachers as "end of year" pressies
Thanks for all the ideas. Starting Monday I better start looking at the Freebies board :rotfl:
Queenie - I'll have a look through those threads on Monday when I can concentrate. ThanksCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Oh! I thought you meant very small plastic bags!
How about those hot chocolate kits where you have a big pretty mug and some hot choc powder with marshmallows?0
