Ryanair -hand luggage-true MSE style we are using max hand luggage allowance to avoid charges-our cases measure within 55x40x20 but the wheels stick out and make the depth in total from the floor more-could they dispute this-anyone experienced this? its a Friday flight so will be busy and I don't want the hassle.
We flew Ryannair at Easter and there were lots of people repacking cases the check in took ages.

They were scrupulous about checked in luggage - several people had to pay excess. However our hand luggage was not checked for weight nor did I see anyone else's being checked. Our hand luggage was within the size so can't comment on your sticky out wheels!
I would recommend you weigh your luggage beforehand - a lady in front of us on her return flight to the UK said she'd only got "A few bottles of drink and a couple of ornaments extra" She ended up paying well over £15 for this excess weight and could probably have got the drink (and more) in Tesco's.
I liked the idea of another poster a little while ago who said he wore combats and filled all the pockets!!! Would have loved to see him walking to get his flight!0 -
Maybe I should have asked-has anyone got a good recomendation for luggage -not too expensive not too heavy-which 1. fits Ryanair 55x40x20 def for hand luggage or2. is large but light for hold luggage.
sandieb thanks-as i've very sadly been weighing all my suitcases now!0 -

There were three of us on our flights from Glasgow to Shannon, Ireland and we all panicked about the wheel issue making it to big however not one person was checked and my goodness there were some big bags!
One guy had a holdall bigger than an average size suitcase, so much so he struggled to get it in to the ovverhead locker and when he did it was Full with just his bag.
So i'd be inclined not to worry abou the odd centimetre0 -
Hi, I flew to Spain with Ryanair last Friday and came back this Monday just gone, I bought a wheelie case on offer in Tesco for about £6. It met the size limits but both ways they did weigh all our bags to check they were 10kg or under. They didn't measure the sizes or anything, the main thing is that they would fit in the overhead storage.Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams
