Two small Windows 7 problems

Got 5 speakers (side left, front left, centre, front right, side right) and a sub. All seem configured ok and have the correct test signal coming out of the correct speaker. So how come when I play a cd or a track from the media library, I only hear the sound from the front left and right speakers?

Also, with every other os I've had, I've moved the icons in the taskbar to the middle of the bar, it's just my preference to have them centered. I can't seem to do this with Windows 7, they just spring back tot he left of the bar. Is there a way to center them or do I just have to accept they are on the left now?

The CD is in stereo so of course it only plays from the front left and right speaker.

You can only do what you want in Windows 7 with the taskbar icons if you go to the Classic Interface. HOWEVER, you can lock the icons for the running programs permantent on the taskbar as a kind of shortcut by right clicking on them and select "Pin to Taskbar". For the apps that support Win7 jump menus, it means you'll also get that functionality. For example, right clicking on the Media Player icon on the taskbar will bring up the last tracks played, right clicking on Word 2007 brings up a list of recent documents etc.

Just one more thing though...I thought the classic interface had gone from Win 7? I remember reading something about this. I certainly can't find it anyway. If it's still available can you/someone point me in the right direction?

Define 'classic' It has gone but there are (free) third-party add-ons that bring it back into life IIRC.

Ah, it appears you're correct. I've just checked on mine. Must've been Vista I was thinking of.
