Hya curlygirl, this is the first time I have added porridge oats to spag bol. I usually add red lentils, but as everything was pretty well cooked, I was only re-heating before making up the lasagne and bunging it into the oven. I added a couple of handfulls, and they fairly bulked up and thickened the sauce, I had to add some water! I was worried they would be noticed by DH & DS2, but no, in fact they said how scrummy it was!! DS2 was quite impressed, as he knows how good oats are for him (he munches his way through LOADS of Twinks hob-nobs and flapjacks, but doesn't like porridge). The sauce went a bit creamy at first, but all was well when it came out of the oven. I will definitely be doing this again!! You certainly can't taste them, at least we couldn't!

    Hope this helps.

Great idea Keiss, will definitely try that one - thanks!

Where are solventsoon & BigMummaF today? They normally post on here once A day I think? Do you think they've gone for a curry together? Flipping annoyed if they have - I love a good curry. Or perhaps solventsoon has committed a terrible and blood thirsty crime on account of cabin fever and BigMummaF has gone to bail her out. They could be eating popcorn watching the new Sherlock Holmes movie. Darn it! I could so do Robert Downey Jnr.

Any other theories? Any other regulars missing? Oooohhh perhaps they are busy setting up their own religious order on a remote island 'St Martins latter-day NSD-ers'

Am bored. Went to bed early cause I was falling asleep doing the washing up. And now I'm bored.

Hi curlygirl.... I'm here - thanks for missing me ...
Sorry, had a mega-busy day yesterday and forgot to post :o:o - like your ideas though, much more exciting than what I was actually doing (ie, working....). Managed to get out yesterday :j but didn't spend anything :j:j, so up to NSD no 13 :j:j:j.

Going out today, got to get grocery shopping  so definitely not an NSD today, but doing OK so far.

Well done everyone, we're all superstars and hugs to anyone needing one.

  • Counting NSD for today, I'm having a PJs day and no plans to get dressed or leave the house :D

Why does time off work have to go so quickly? I was really looking forward to having this week off and now its almost gone. Today I'm going to watch one of the films that I have currently clogging up my Freeview + box, get out my cross-stitch and have a lovely lazy day, I'm so rock and roll aren't I! :rotfl:

Have a good day peeps, whatever your plans are xxx

  • Oops. Could also do with a thread that whoops my @rse when I don't do my housework..........BigMummaF I demand that you start a 'Switch off TV/Laptop and get your dirty house clean you lazy minger' thread. I think it would take off.....

aww I'd definitely subscribe to that thread :rotfl: although it would totally defeat the object seeing as we'd all be on here posting about how filthy our houses are and how we need to do the washing up and not doing anything about it....until 5 mins before the hubby gets home when we rush around spraying furniture polish and leaving the hoover out...to look like we have been busy or is that just me? :o:p:D

Had a NSD yesterday and plan on making today one too...that will make 8 in total so far! :j I have an appointment at the doctors this afternoon, but won't take my purse with me so I can't spend anything!

This will be my first day of driving this year, will take it easy. Might go and sprinkle more salt on our lane, which is still quite icy.

Must finish my cupboard/fridge/freezer stock-take today as I will be shopping tomorrow, shouldn't need too much (I hope!). Really pleased with my spends so far, or rather lack of them, only £112.97 out of target of £350 so far. :D

Today will be another nsd for me. I'm finding it not too bad stopping myself from spending this month, but that's most probably as I have no money to spend :o

This is a great idea, I have loads of oats, and I love the idea of using them to thicken mincemeat sauces. Thanks Keiss. :D

NSD number 9 for me today, stuck at home after an upset stomach the last two days.:o
