missing icons on new netbook

Hi dd got a new netbook for xmas a msi wind but 2 of the icons wont load on the taskbar the volume and the battery power icon. have tried every thing i can think of to get them to load. have been on taskbar properties and set them to always show but they still don't load.

if on XP, go to control panel, and in power options, go to the advanced tab and check the box to always display the icon in taskbar, for the vol control, do the same in the volume tab of sound and audio section

yep done that to still wont load

from the individual sections in control panel ?? Have you got your taskbar locked ??

yes locked now. but when i changed the settings to always show i unlocked it then locked it when set.
