Santa has brought my son a ps3 for xmas, and we set it up yesterday. when hes finished playing we switch it to standby. Today when he switched it back on it wanted the time and date again... so ive updated it via internet, and its still doing the same thing. Ive asked 2 people I know with them and there dosnt do it. Ive looked in all the settings and read the manual but there is nothing to stop this. Has anyone else had this problem?
I got it from Argos but i know there policy is to give you Sony's number and send you on your way. (previously had a problem with psp)
Does anyone know what I can do?
If I send it back to Sony will I be waiting weeks for a repair on a product only 2 days old???

tried updating the firmware? (settings > system update, top option on the settings menu)
tried a factory reset? (you may loose anything on the console like saved games/music etc if you do a factory reset)0 -
Ive tried the update, but not the factory reset, il do it in the morning and see what happens, there only a few game saves on it anyway. Ive put my wep key in for the internet but it loses that everytime its switched to standby. thanks0

Unlucky. But it sounds faulty to me, I cant think of any reason why it wouldnt automatically save
How are you putting it into standby?:idea:0 -
are you switching it on and off via the button on the front or the rear?
the ps3 is much like a PC and needs to be shut down correctly
also as you bought the product from Argos your contract of sale is with them, and it is up to them to sort the problem out, don't let them fob you off sending to you Sony. Its up to them to get it repaired/ replaced.0 -
It is faulty. It needs to be sent back. Take it to the retailer and don't let them fob you off about sending it to Sony. Under Sale of Goods Act, a product is automatically assumed to be faulty at manufacture if it fails within the first 6 months, providing there are no signs of mistreatment, and you are automatically entitled to a replacement. You should be expecting to walk into the shop with the defective one and walk out with a new one.0
