Dual Processors

If you have a dual processor server, is the RAM split between the two processors or not, or does it depend on setup? If it depends on the setup, how can I tell? I have 4GB of RAM in a server, but only 2.5GB is showing in Windows, is this because of the dual processors? If yes, why is the RAM not splt "evenly" (I would expect 2GB, not 2.5 GB)

The RAM is used by both processors equally, so if you have 4Gb of RAM both processors (or cores) can see 4Gb (minus whatever is used).

the 2..5Gb limit might be to do with the version of windows that you are running (I seem to remember a limit on 32bit based systems) or the limitations on your motherboard as some can only see a certain amount. Might be worth checking to see if there is a bios update for your motherboard.
