A deposit is a deposit, usually nonrefundable, why waste the shops time?
You can cancel the contract but I doubt thety will give you your money back.
Why have you suddenly not got a need for a carpet after 2 days?
Atleast now you will be £20 out of pocket, may make you think twice about doing it in the future.0 -
I find it strange that the shop would take your deposit anyway before a measure, Obviously you would have no idea how much it was going to cost you.
Surely only then would you decide to go ahead with the order and only then left a deposit.
Speak to the manager, ask him why yu had to give a deposit before you placed the order.
why do you want to change your mind anywaymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Not really that strange. The last thing they want is people saying "yes send someone round to measure" then they turn up and they're not even in. If someone has paid a £20 deposit they are far less likely to do that. It's a sign of committment.
To OP,
Seeing as you've already paid the deposit, you might as well get someone round to measure. Give them a chance to find a carpet, size, price etc that you like. If they can't do you a deal that you want, at least you know the measurements so you can kind of guess at how much other carpets are going to cost from other retailers.0 -
