Hepl please computer not recognising rom drive?

:confused:Hi my cd rom wont play discs all of a sudden .It appears to be spinning disc but still wont play. Can any one help ?

  • Fixed the same problem with my Dell myself today thanks to the following advice found on an earlier post from user Nukey:

    - Open Start > Run
    - Type in REGEDIT, press Enter
    - Maximise the window, make the left pane a bit bigger (looks way narrow!)
    - Click the + or the arrow next to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    System
    CurrentControlSet
    Control
    Class
    Click on (not expand) {4D36E965.......
    - Right click UpperFilters, select Delete
    - Confirm
    - Right click LowerFilters, select Delete
    - Confirm
    - Close the registry editor
    - Restart the machine

    DVD drive should then appear

    If unanswered: is this a laptop or desktop?
  • its a laptop now found another problem run is missing so cant do the above any suggestions? think my daughter 10yrs has done something.

    Try holding down the 'Windows key' (the flag) and pressing 'R' :)
