As its nearly a brand new year,

Im off to Ebico/SSE? for my gas only for now. I was with Scottish Power FEB 2011 Fixed NSC (no exit fee) however I did get charged £42 PA for an IGT. I have paid IGT since 2001 when I bought from previous original owner. New build DEC 2000 I never knew til I moved in. Its a 2 bedroom terrace, south facing garden.

I did this online, very easy, I will now now see what happens. No cashback as you know with them. They came about 5 down in the energy help site comparison, (best site IMHO) however I didnt want a charge for leaving early. I can pay by a credit card quarterly with no extra charge.

I am looking at switching electric now with a view to cashback. After that Im going to be a serial switcher. I am a very low user, gas is for cooking/hob & heating/combi boiler (superb by the way) electric oven. All low energy bulbs fitted.

I live on my own and work full time (uk), my present DD is £21 per month both fuels, a bit low in IMHO they put it down from £30.50 cos thats what the computer said when I rang them about my £100 credit  but its better in my bank for now.

I can't fault SP as I have been with them from 2001 however I always got the best deal for me and they always back dated any tarrif I wanted. I learnt their "system" well. I provide my own readings always.

I only want to do this really online and a monthly DD (as its cheaper normally) I use Quidco and Top cash back normally.

My aim is to have a free year for gas and electric, If I make a profit even better :D

Why would you want to pay for your utilities with a credit card , assuming you are not clearing it monthly its a disaster waiting to happen, and if you set up a regular payment its the devils job to cancel it.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • The Money has to come from someone so with serial switching it will have a knock on effect with prices IMO.

The expression "ruining it for everyone" comes to mind.

Ebico let you use a credit card no extra cost. I will be clearing it by using a cash back credit card ;) But thanks for your concern. Right Im just off to check this is still a money saving site

Dont worry I will leave BG until last. I would hate for it to come out of your pocket directly ;)

Similiar circ umstances here, Neil, such huge cashbacks set against low consumption can't be ignored. 22% in my case, could have been 40% but chickened out and went back to Ebico from Scottish Power.
And SSE/Ebico refunded an overpayment almost by return. Can't fault them.
As for spoiling it for others, Gerrard, small potatoes when compared to the cartel ways of the energy industry.
