Air bag light staying on

I recently took the dash out of an accent so I could replace the heating air box (squirrel had filled the system with nuts and previous owner broke the mixer flap).
All was well for a week.
A few days ago I took the steering wheel off so I could align it properly.
Since then my sister has driven the car and said that the air bag light was staying on.
I took a look yesterday and found that the plug into the airbag was not in properly.
I pushed it back in properly, but the light still stays on.
I've inspected all of the wiring and fuses and it all looks fine.
Could I have damaged the airbag when it had the plug hanging out of it?
It all looks OK.

The Airbag light could have triggered a fault in the ECU which will latch on, until it is reset by the stealers.
Try disconnecting the battery for a couple of mins to clear the code (or if you have a code reader, clear it with that)0
