If you are going to buy a new Pc then first have a look inside the old pc and determine if the old hard drive is a IDE (Large rectangular cable ) or a sata (small usually around 1cm in width cable which is red usually)

Then all you need to do is buy a PC with either a spare Sata or IDE connector then you can just plug in the old drive in to the new without the caddy.

The Router is independant of your computer, the cable which conects your computer to your router is a Cat5 cable which just passes information backwards and forwards. you can safley remove this cable annd your internet will still work for all other computers in the house.
