I got an MSI netbook yesterday for Christmas and have been trying to connect to the Internet since. We already have a PC in the house and Netgear wireless which 2 laptops are already connected to. Whenever I try to connect to the Netgear wireless router on my new netbook it says that no wireless networks are in range, but they are cuz I was on the laptop at the same time.
Can I not just automatically connect to our wireless or do i need to set up something first on the netbook??
Please help?

Check the wireless switch is turned on (usually on one of the function keys with a pic of a radio mast on it or check the manual) I found it was F 11 on several I troubleshot yesterday at work.
If that doesn't bring up networks check the wireless adaptor is active-might be disabled
Does it connect OK when you connect it to the router with the ethernet cable ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Have you turned the netbook wireless on?
If you don't know how read the manual as it varies from model to model I'd guess at Fn + one of the function keys with a symbol that looks vaguely like an antenna with concentric portions of a circle at sides and top.0 -

If the above tips don't work, download and install the latest driver for your wireless card. This made quite a difference to my wireless networking.0

Yes that was it, its F11 on my netbook.
Im still having problems connecting though, When it loactes the netgear network and i press connect, it trys to connect but then goes back to the list of networks. Any ideas?0 -
Have you entered the network key /password ?
I'm working -3 til 10 today on broadband calls-I have a feeling I'm gonna be taking a LOT of wireless calls LOL)I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Yes it says "the network requires a network key. Type they key and then click Connect."
The network key appears already, i dont have to type it in so i pressed connect but nothing happened??0 -
If you haven't typed in the key previously, then it isn't going to get it automatically - that would defeat the object of having the security.0
-
Then why is there a password already entered when I try to connect?0

Type in the correct network key in CAPITALS (often people use lower case not realizing it is case sensetive)
If I had a pound for every customer who has assured me they've typed it in correctly -then when I coax them to do it again it connects....I'd be in Vegas this Christmas instead of working
