Our central heating stopped working at 8pm on Christmas Eve; the remote thermostat said it was working but it wasn't. It had happened at the start of December and the plumber who installed it said to turn off the power for a minute then turn it all back on, it runs through a sequence of power up noises and then worked. Did it again on Christmas eve and (touch wood) it's been fine since. But the plumber will be back in March to service the boiler as its under the 5year guarantee!DFW Nerd Club #545 Dealing With Our Debt

Yes I think you will be wanting to relax after 18 miles....or you will be high on endorphines and have better things on your mind

Won't your landlord have to pay the call out charge though?I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

That's the bacardi done. All the rest of the spirits have plenty left now so I can go back to just having an odd one now and then. I've made enough space on top of the freezer now that everything fits on.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

He will pay it back but I have to pay out...
Cat - tried that - it looks like there's no pressure and there's no water in the boiler so the pilot light wont light so no hot water...heating works though so its not urgent urgent (at least its warm and we had a bath earlier by heating water in pans - I go back to work on Tues and have a shower at work as well so I may wait till then (its only £180 then!!)0 -

Becky - have you tried filling the boiler with water? somewhere there will be a valve that allows you to do this. If you are renting, contact the landlord as he should be responsible for the costs. This was the reason my neighbours moved as their landlord said he wouldn't replace the fire as they had central heating and then the water would only heat up in the morning and no hot water in the evening! I'm waiting for the charming nerk to come round cos I'm telling him that he has to contact water board to arrange for them to supply his property with water directly and not via my house. I'm not prepared to be responsible for the lead water pipe (especially as it looks a bit crackled)DFW Nerd Club #545 Dealing With Our Debt
