Not in this case, as the OP has an Aga and a multifuel stove. The Aga will be on anyway, to do the cooking, and anyone who left a lovely MF stove sitting cold, to use an electric storage radiator instead would be...well, lacking in aesthetic sensibility, if nothing else!
If she's lucky, these two alone might produce enough heat to warm the whole house and, even if not, might only need a little topping up here and there.0 -
Thanks guys, I think I will wait and see how we get on like you suggest. Perhaps just running the upstairs heaters would be sufficiently affordable. I will see what options I have regarding the stove, because its already installed and options for a back boiler after the fact seem pretty slim. Hubby will not contemplate gch after the running expenses we have suffered in our current home, so we'll have to wait and see.
You can fit a back boiler to a lot of stoves but what people sometimes forget is that you don't get something for nothing. The heat you use to warm the water will not be going into the room. The previous owner of my house had a back boiler on her stove and had it removed for just that reason.0 -
Thanks A Badger! Crossing my fingers that the whole house will be toasty warm with just my aga and stove. If not i can take up knitting and make the boys lots of thick jumpers.I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent. :rotfl:0
