How about upgrading to 4.5 GB so we just need to add 2x 2GB memory cards for about £100. Then upgrade the OS Leopard for say £50.“…the ‘insatiability doctrine – we spend money we don’t have, on things we don’t need, to make impressions that don’t last, on people we don’t care about.” Professor Tim Jackson

According to Crucial, the maximum amount of RAM a 1.6 GHz PowerMac G5 can support is 4 GB. Putting another few GBs in it will certainly speed it up though. While Mac OS X will run just fine on a Mac with less than 1 GB, you really want to be using more than that, especially if you're using intensive applications.0

great. We will go for the max 4gb & upgrade to Leopard. This is great so we don't have to fork out for a new Mac now. In a year or two or three we will get a new one.“…the ‘insatiability doctrine – we spend money we don’t have, on things we don’t need, to make impressions that don’t last, on people we don’t care about.” Professor Tim Jackson
