Any suggestions people ?
My sons laptop will only boot in safe mode, it works fine, I have copied all his personal files on it to a external HD to be safe. It did it perfectly with no issues.
The laptop did take a bang a couple of weeks ago when my son dropped the bag he was carrying it in chipping a corner (screen fine, very lucky). Has worked ok since.
Any suggestions ?
If you try and use it in normal mode it just sticks after signing on with any of the user accounts.
I have taken it back to a restore point (22/12) but that has not cured it, I have also tried the start up repair.
Thanks in advance for any help.
O/S is Vista Home Premium, laptop is Toshiba P300D.

It is quite possible that there has been damage to the hard drive and congratulations on taking the immediate action of backing up - most people don't.
OK..Click on Start, Computer. Next, right click on the C: Drive and select Properties. Select the "Tools" tab and then error checking. See what happens.
It is quite easy to replace a laptop hard drive and they're only around £40 for a 250GB one. Use the restore discs to put the OS back on the new hard drive.0
