I got a DMG TV as a Christmas present, the quality is terrible and only has a few tv chanells.
I want to take it back though my Mum threw away the packaging and thinks she lost the reciept.
She bought if from NETTO.
If I can show proof of purchase with a bank statement can I get a refund and buy a proper telly?!
Any response many thanks

you should be able to. providing you do have a bank statement. Just say you are rejecting the goods under the sale of goods act 1979 as they are not of "satisfactory quality", if they refuse, get the clerks name, the managers name, the H/O address and inform them you will be writing t H/O and trading standards as they are refusing your statutory rights.
If they are SOGA savvy (sale of goods act) they they may say you are only entitled to a repair, which is a half truth, but its only the case when you have "accepted" the goods. You have not as upon first testing, you realise the problem, therefore under soga you are entitled to a full refund.
Stand your ground and remain polite.
Merry XmasBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Your idea of "terrible quality picture" may be different to someone elses though, you have to expect that a cheap TV from Netto will not have the best picture. How much was it, what screen size etc?
If it is genuinely faulty, rather than just not meeting the standard you wanted from it, you should be able to take it back, but because the packaging has been thrown away you're most likely to get a credit note, replacement or repair (throwing the packaging away being an act of accepting the product).0 -
You say the tv only has a few channels, have you tuned the channels in right, you also say teh quality is poor but have you adjusted the ariel if it has an ariel0
-
if it has a few channels and is freeview than you will need to sort out a decent aerial0
-
are you watching it in digital or analogue mode? How many channels do you get? have you previously received more freeview channels through a digibox/with the same aerial?
There are a lot of variables, but unfortunately, it sounds about right for a tv bought from netto. You do get what you pay for with tech.0
