Hey Merry Christmas everyone..
Just got a new laptop with Windows 7 Starter, one problem Ive found is you can't change the desktop wallpaper to personalise the laptop. Does anyone know how I could do this?
Ive read about a couple of programs you can download, but thought Id come ask you guys just incase I download a program that destroys my laptop!!!
Also I have the Asus eee pc 1005ha laptop, and the mouse pad doesnt seem to have a scroll function. Does anyone know if there a way to actually turn it on? Ive read the manual and still havent found how.
Many thanks and have a great day all,
Sahun

ok after some playing Ive worked out how to use the scroll....
Still stuck with changing the desktop background though!!Never knock on death's door, ring the doorbell and run away ..... he hates that :mad:0 -
Right mouse click on the desktop, select personalize.
At bottom of window select desktop background.
Next screen allows you to browse a picture location for your wallpaper.
Merry Christmas & enjoy W7.0 -
Sadly when I right click there isn't a 'personalise' option.
Ive read it's because it's Windows 7 'Starter', which is annoying.Never knock on death's door, ring the doorbell and run away ..... he hates that :mad:0 -
Not very good - almost tempting to try unix
I don't know if you can edit the registry,if you can you could try the following - always take a full back-up if you editthe registry.
"Your shell can display specific desktop wallpaper by retrieving the current wallpaper registry values from the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Desktop registry key.
To specify the name of the wallpaper bitmap to retrieve, set the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Desktop\Wallpaper registry value to a string that is the path to the bitmap. The following code example shows how to set this registry value."
Windows 7 Starter does not include:
•Aero Glass, meaning you can only use the “Windows Basic” or other opaque themes. It also means you do not get Taskbar Previews or Aero Peek.
•Personalization features for changing desktop backgrounds, window colors, or sound schemes.
•The ability to switch between users without having to log off.
•Multi-monitor support.
•DVD playback.
•Windows Media Center for watching recorded TV or other media.
•Remote Media Streaming for streaming your music, videos, and recorded TV from your home computer.
•Domain support for business customers.
•XP Mode for those that want the ability to run older Windows XP programs on Windows 7.0 -
This video apparently shows you how to change your wall paper in W7 Starter

Hey,
I've just downloaded and installed Windows 7 Home Edition...as a result I've lost all my Asus programs, like the tv streaming, wireless internet programs, games. Anyone know how I can get all these programs back? As my computer is now pretty boring, and it doesnt feel worth having an Asus as it came with all power saving options which I now cant access!!
Please help!!!!!!!
