Some lovely menus :T:T I've just edited my New Years Day lunch as we'll be at home as my Mum is too poorly with pancreatitis to be cooking for us all, poor thing. I've invited them here and if she feels up to it they'll come down.

I also hit upon a sneaky idea for Sunday dinner this week. I served it at lunchtime (12.30pm) along with lots of Yorkshire puddings to fill up the boys ;) then at teatime I served up cheese, crackers, pate, fruit & slices of homemade cake. It went down very well & nobody was 'starving' later on :j Result! It may help someone else with hungry teenage lads I hope :D

OK, after my brain freeze post-here is an updated menu plann for the week lol

    Tu-lamb hotpot with cabbage

We-Brie &bacon potato bake (like a tartiflette but all the recipes for that involve cooking spuds in cream, and I can never be bothered with that!, so going to be an improvised version of Rachel allen potato gratin from Bake, with thyme and bacon in with the onions, and brie on top. May well make 2 so as to freeze one. Served with rocket salad

Th-pork chops, blue cheese sauce and saut! spuds, with sprouts
Fri-lots of nibbly things-mini burgers, brie and cranberry parcels and smoked salmon.
Sa-Smoked salmon, creme fraiche, pea, rocket and dill pasta (or poss basil philly rather than creme fraiche and dill)
Su-Burgers with monteray jack cheese& wedges with a philli dip
Mo-lamb and pot curry, with rice and a cauliflower side dish of some kind (OH will make that-the curry is in the freezer)

So looks like all I really need to buy for the week is some rocket, and probably more spuds, dill if we make the salmon pasta with that rather than philly.

    Thanks everyone for advice :D

  • Update-the potato bake was fab-thinly sliced spuds, slow fried onions, a bit of chopped rosemary and sage, brie and fried bacon (left go cold and crispy then shattered into bits) layer it up, then pour over a mix of single and double cream and bake covered in foil for 1 hour, then lid off and crisp up.-yum

We had it with sausages in mustard, maple syrup and cider vinegar sauce (completely incidental-had chipolatas to spare!) and rocket salad with the sausage sauce as dressing

made 3 greedy person 2 portion bakes, 2 in freezer yay :) no room at the inn now though-freezer is FULL :(:(:(
