Blood Pressure and Travel Insurance

Hi
I'm looking into getting travel insurance for a family member, they need Annual Multi-trip cover. Having gone through InsureSupermarket, the quotes range from £60 - £100+.
Both people take medication for high blood pressure, and one for diabetes. Does anyone know if premiums are affected by these as standard. Apparantlym, the Post office charge an extra £80 for one person and £110 for the other, to have medical cover on top.
Any feedback, is much appreciated.
Thanks

The premiums will be affected by these issues. I have to say if you’ve been quoted £60 for annual insurance that seems pretty good. I have just paid £33 for 8 days cover with high blood pressure taken into account and that was with Tesco. I spoke to Insureandgo and they didn’t want to know. I think you must declare these conditions because if you don’t and you need to claim I feel the insurance companies would try their hardest to get out of paying a claim if they found out you hadn’t given them all the correct details.0

Did you make them aware of the medical problems ?
The only reason I ask is that I have medical problems, high blood pressure being one of them. Although the HBP is controlled, they still hiked up the premium accordingly. If you have'nt told them, you can't make claims for the conditions, and some policies won't allow any claims at all if you didn't declare problems you knew about before. A diabetic friend of mine paid a premium of around £200 for 2 weeks in the US after shopping around. You can get an online quote here for medical conditions, https://www.medi-cover.co.uk/manualcode/frmHome.aspx
If you declared it , I think that's an excellent quote.0 -
My father has high blood pressure and is a Type II diabetic (he's a walking doctor's nightmare)... my mother is a Type I diabetic (yep I know, no chance for me!)
Anyway, they've just insured themselves for a single trip week's hols in the Canary Islands for £42 with Norwich Union.
I've just insured myself and the OH for minor pre-existing medical cover travel insurance with a very helpful company called CH-Facilities (I found their details on this forum with a search
http://www.ch-facilities.co.uk/
You can quote online, or ring them.
Like Jazzy_B says - if you've declared the medical conditions, for an annual policy, that's great0 -
Hi
Thanks very much for the replies - they finally went with Endsleigh - i think it was approx £80 annually. I understand that they told them of the HBP and diabetes - not sure of the exact details, but they got it "in store" so hopefully they got the correct advice from the insurance salesman.
Thanks again.0 -
Insureandgo will insure people who have high blood pressure for no extra premium as long as they are taking no more than 2 medications.
