Do not got for ALDI branded crap
I bought this camera and know it will last a good 5-10 yrs. Its fully manual function options mean you can mess around with shutter speeds and flash modes to get some cool affects.
I will be taking some pics on holiday with this (again!) and will happily post to people who PM me.
In point
Do not buy the aldi camera!Link now removed! sorry0 -
Well I love my Traveler 6.1 mp camera. Ok if I was a professional I'd probably shell out £100s more but the Aldi camera is terrific value and my photos are much admired. The advantage of bigger mps is that you can crop a picture right down and still get fantastic clarity.0

Spotted the s70 with spar batteries and memory card on ebay

I've just bought a Fuji F10, price has dropped as the F11 has been released but the average point and shoot user like me wont see much difference between the two.
I bought the camera and a 1GB mem. card from amazon for £169 (£5 off with my voucher).
I've read a lot of reviews before buying, here's one if anyone is interested:

Just thought i'd add the F10 was voted the best pocket camera 2005 by ESIA (european sound and vision association).I'm better off without you.0 -
It always makes me smile when people chase Megapixels as differentiating between a good & bad camera.
Unless you're wanting this for poster size prints it doesn't make much difference once you get over 4-5 MegaPixels
What is important is the glass you're shooting through...ie the lens.
The Vivitar specification mentions nothing about the largest aperture (ie how little light it can be used in) or who make the lens...it's likely to be average at best (else they'd be crowing from the rooftops about it). End result is probably slow shutter speeds (read blurry pictures), purple fringing around high contrasty edges & just general of contrast & averageness wrt prints produced.
Far better to go for less megapixels & a good fast lens than chase ever more & more megapixels.0 -
Yes totally agree with hankmcspank. From what i've read 6MP is good enough for A4 prints - doubt i'll print that big but you never know.
Another thing as well which I was specifically looking for was startup time and battery consumption.
I'd be so fustrated if i missed picture opportunities because the camera took ages to turn on! I wouldn't want to keep having to turn my camera on and off just to save the battery either.I'm better off without you.0 -
Aldi have this 8.1mp digital camera with 6x optical zoom and a 256sd card looks a good buy.
