Options
is the PS3 compatible with WPA2? ordered a new router a safecom one looks like a belkin but better than a belkin , that supports WPA2 , and my last router only supported WEP/WPA

i want WPA2 because its the most secure connection especially for online gaming and downloading files never want to go back to WEP/WPA because someone hacked the passkey so thats why i ordered a good one , who has this WPA2 setting one their PS3? and who has got it running and it works fine?

It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.
  • According to this ebay guide, the PS3 is compatible with WPA2

  • ok thanks , i know it uses wpa2 but i dont know whether it uses wpa2-psk or tkip ?
if i set my router settings to WPA2-PSK will it connect also i heard on the ps3 it shows in brakets by the security setting (AES) , (Only on WPA2-PSK , it would look something like this WPA2-PSK(AES)

glad you got it working - although WEP is different to WPA - at the time WEP can be hacked but WPA cant. Although there are some sources saying that WPA has been hacked it is very doubtful whether they are true. Usually its a case of finding out the WPA key by other means (default settings on router that havent been changed - or leaked password etc.)

make sure you update your firmware on the PS3, some of the wireless modes did not work for me when I first set mine up. It was only when doing a software upgrade that they worked.
