electric bill while on a prepay meter

Because the amount of money the supplier has recorded on your account for the credit you have purchased does not equal the cost of the consumption the meter has recorded, or been estimated, as used.
As you appear to have an estimated reading as your latest, I suggest you take an actual meter reading and give that to your supplier"Now to trolling as a concept. .... I don't understand that lol so we've used more electricity than we have put money on the meter?0

Yes ... based on what appears to be an estimated reading"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100

Why are we always in credit then? Surely we only use what's on the meter.0

Its because its estimated. Give your supplier a ring with the correct reading.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Have you been sent a bill that is asking you to pay money? If so you are not in credit, but debit.
Or have you simply been sent a statement advising you how much you have paid and detailing what it has been spent on?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... when you send your actual reading in you will know where you are.
oh VERY IMPORTANT check that your tariff settings on the meter match your supplier0 -

FRONT
Balance on your account before this statement xxx
Your electricity charges xxx
VAT xxx
Your total charges xxx
This is not a tax invoice.
BACK
Balance on your account before this statement
- Balance on your previous statement xxx(different to on front)
- total payments recieved xxx
How we calculated your statement
- Your electricity charges
- Your total charges are xxx
So is 'payments recieved' what we have spent on the meter?
No mention of payment - when & how we pay etc
Can it be that we are putting money on the meter for what we are using but then Scottish Power are using that against what we owe?0
