Gift for doctor - suggestions please

Hi,
I want to buy a gift for my doctor who has been absolutely fantastic.
I want to get something to show how very grateful I am, up to around £50 max.
Are there any rules on what NHS staff can and can't accept as gifts?
I would rather get something that is just for him and then buy the rest of the team something else to share.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can get him please?

    Is there anything you know he likes? My gran got her doctor a calendar of VW campervans, cos he has one himself... apart from that, I have no idea what NHS staff are allowed to accept, it's not something they've actually mentioned at medical school! :rolleyes:

    i don't think doctors are allowed at accept a cash gift, so vouchers are probably out aswell...

    personally i would go for a nice m&s hamper or something if you don't know what he is into

    If the doctor is an employee of the practice, rather than a partner, their contract may state they are not allowed to receive gifts from patients. Or the rules of the practice may state that no medic, nurse or practice worker is allowed to accept gifts from patients.

    Maybe you could discuss giving a donation to a favourd charity if they cant accept personal gifts ?

    No, you can't give the doc a pressy, but I'm sure he realises how grateful you are as we all our for our doctors and nurses...:)

    My old Trust stipulated that employees/ contractors could only accept perishables as gifts (flowers/ chocolates etc).
    Gone ... or have I?

    our trust states that you must declare gifts.

    You could give the receptionists a call, they might know that kind of thing (and they'd be delighted that there might be a little something on the way for the team as well :) )
