how can whitehall pay such massive bonuses??

I always thought bonuses were paid by companies out of their excess profits for that year.

the civil service have no profit. no public sector worker shouuld ever get a bonus! their bonus is a guaranteed job for life and a gold plated pension.

these people are scum. there is no money to pay you bonuses. you are just cost to the taxpayer. you generate nothing except red tape and beareucracy.

You are all scum and 50% of you deserve the sack and the other 50% deserve pay cuts!!!!

    I wouldn't go that far :p

However how can Whitehall pay that, well it is taxpayers money so they can pay what they want. It does make them rather hypocritical when criticising the bankers.
"There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
"I could play all day in my Green Cathedral".
"The Centuries that divide me shall be undone."
"A dream? Really, Doctor. You'll be consulting the entrails of a sheep next. "

TWH, by all accounts from what I hear, you may get close to your wish. "Word" on the street is a 25% cut over 4 years of the next parliament. They may go for swathing cuts as soon as they get in power though, to get the pain out the way and allow for bigger savings.

Lets hope that is correct. These people have had it too easy for too long milking the taxpayer dry.

I think if you dont do frontline services, you can get worried. Google and M$ will have both been approached, with massive bespoke IT projects due to get cut by the Tories and replaced by COTS. The resulting infrastructure changes will cut administrative and management costs whilst maintaining or improving output. I am thinking about the NHS in particular, as well as CS payroll systems and CS management.

Your all very naive if you think Toryboy and co will do any different.Pre 97 they increased pen pushers ,Nu -labour PROMISED to slash costs and obviously lied (like they always have) and just created more meaningless employment.

Bureaucracy is not created by Left or Right politics its created by supposedly highly inteligent people with no bloody common sense...

Less to do with lack of common sense than with pure greed, I think.

Nothing would be worse than the return of that blithering, megalomaniac, unelected idiot Brown along with his labour party.

The CS pays bonus to avoid pensionable pay rises, thus saving the tax payer maney. Surely you should be in favour of that?

Greed is a side issue as No politician gains financially from layers and layers of bureaucracy....

I don't want him either, but don't believe Toryboy will be any different as he already reneged on giving the country a referendum and he,s not even in power yet.Its a sign of things to come, spin, spin and more spin interupted by copious amounts of b***!!!!!!.......
