The on/off button in my dishwasher doesn't work?

Options
Has anyone encountered this problem with the on/off button in the dishwasher?

I push the button, but when I release it, the button also lets loose. In the end, I had to use the cello tape to wrap around the button in order to keep up the pressure. Only then did the dishwasher begin to operate. But obviously I have to find the solution.

What should I do?

Thank you very much.

Looks like the switch mechanism has failed, you may need to get the switch replaced. What make and model is the DW and is it still in warrantee?
  • Thank you for your prompt reply. Mine is a Zanussi, which is rather old and out of warranty.

I suppose the minimum fee would be at least 50-60£ (including the call-out fee).

Therefore I'm thinking of buying a new dishwasher with a budget of £200. Do you think £200 can buy me a decent one, at this time of the year?

Why on earth would you pay £ 60 for somone to come and fit a switch?

Buy one yourself and fit it yourself or get your handy mate to do it!

    Cheers
