Motorbike training and license

I'm planning to get a full motorcycle license this year

Does anyone know if there're any intensive courses which put you through the whole thing (from newbie to qualified) in a week or so?

thnx in advance

Provided you are over 21 (I think!) you want a 'direct access' course - plenty of places do them - look in yellow pages or Motorcycle News.

It's a few years since I did mine but it will be over £100.00 per day I would think.

    Good luck

£500 for a direct access course is money well spent. You can't put a price on not getting killed because your riding skills are crap.

The alternative is to do your CBT, ride around on a 125 for a while, pass your 125 test then be allowed to ride a restricted 33BHP or less bike for two years before going onto more powerful machines. I did 6 months on a 125 before deciding enough was enough so I did a 3 day DAS course and got my full licence. I didn't regret it.

I can also recommend joining your local IAM group. The £85 that the Skills For Life training and test costs are excellent value and it will most likely save your life!

Whatever you choose good luck and welcome to the world of two wheels. If you are anywhere near the south coast I suggest you go along to the motorcycle world show at Beaulieu this weekend.

  • will defo go for the direct access

£500 wouldn't be so bad assuming it gets me the license (and skills of course!)
