Washing machine b0rked

Options
Hi, the washing machine has been leaking a little bit, but we've still been using it the past few weeks. It's finally died mid wash, there is a small pool of water in the drum area and it won't switch on. Any idea

a) what the problem is

b) cheapest way to fix it? I think the warranty has run out...

Cheers

    Could be motor or electrics,

how old is the WM and is it a cheap one or an expensive one? as it may just be cheaper in the long run to replace it.

 Or as its leaking per the OP it may just be that the bottom (if it has one) of the casing has a pint or so of water in it, leading to operation of a float switch which cuts off power to the machine so that further spillage is avoided and you don't get a flood!

Seriously there are all sorts of things which could cause this although mostly they'll be fill or drainage. Are there any fault codes showing and if so can you identify the machine make and model in casethere are any experts here on that machine.

Can you tell at what stage in the cycle it actually stopped?

Not on a "rinse and hold" programme is it?

    Cheers
