Well actually I have in the 80's, I took 6 months to pay back £500. I LEARNT MY LESSON, NEVER AGAIN. This was a time when I had to pay for an Access card, and banking.
So, why, why should I have to pay for these !!!!less people Now.
I do have a bit of sympathy for poeple on a fixed income, carers, pensioners, but not people who just consider their overdraft / credit limit an extension of their salary!
I'm now Mortgage free, and loan money to "reliable" people through Zopa, and make a hansom profit thankyou very much,
Happy Xmas

PLEASE STOP MESSING UP FREE BANKING for those of us who can control our spending, (Probably a majority of 'customers' on this web site).
If you want to 'borrow' money do it officially, it will probably be cheaper, 'free' banking is for people who stay in credit BUT reasonable deals are available if you go responsibly overdrawn.0 -
Well done, I'm sure Santa will be along shortly to give you a cookie, possibly even some milk!
That is what you're after isn't it? Some sort of praise for being almost 'god-like' due to only once having a bank charge? Well, I think a lot of people will agree with me here when I say congratulations, you are a bloody legend.0 -
Well hurrah for you. I'm so pleased you're financial situation is so perfect. In fact maybe you should change your username to 'Mr Perfect' just so that no-one is in any doubt.
I just hope that nothing ever happens to you that wrecks your financial situation to the point where you have no other option but to miss a payment or pay late and rack up a couple of charges. If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.0

Surely someone who makes a valid point about not receiving charges because they run their accounts in credit should not be ridiculed and mocked any more than someone who is struggling with their finances and cannot avoid going overdrawn.
I can see both sides of the argument, particularly as someone who works for a bank and speaks to customers on a daily basis about charges.
A little respect to one and all would not go amiss.
That is true, but it isn't the fact that he has posted it on the forum but WHERE he has posted it ie on the reclaim bank charges board. I think you missed one crucial point
"I'm now Mortgage free, and loan money to "reliable" people through Zopa, and make a hansom profit thankyou very much,"
By implication he is stating others who may have been in his position previously are unreliable and then boasts of making handsome profits. Without that line, I would have agreed with you in all probability.0 -

Yes, provided within forum rules, which the post was. However, the OP does not pay for other peoples bank charges. The person who gets stung with the bank charge pays well over the odds for that.

Perhaps, depending on how the point of view is put across.

Good for you. Some of us have a little difficulty with that due to the punitive nature of charges which are unfair. The punitive nature refers to escalating charges and the viscious spiral which happens all too often, the devasting effect it has on family finances, DCA's, relationship breakdown and impact on health.
A little respect to one and all would not go amiss.
Please inform me why I should respect banks or financial institutions. I don't and I don't trust them. I used to, and then I wised up.
I will however, respect all points of view provided they adhere to site rules, are not discriminatory, are not sanctimonious, are not a wind up and are backed up with facts. Please ignore those people who post on this forum who deliberately try to misinform you. Don't be bullied by them, don't be blamed by them. You know who I mean.
You come here for advice, help and support- thats what I and like minded others will try to do.0 -
The OP's position does not make Bank charges any fairer and I am not sure why he believes he is paying other people's Bank charges for them

Do you not think your post is contradictory?
I may have misunderstood, but you seem to imply people should not lend money, yet you are quite happy to borrow people money through zopa
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.
