FAO AlienErik or other virus experts!

Hi, you helped me once before so I'm hoping you'r around! I've picked up a virus on my work laptop and they've been unable to fix it, despite tryng all day. It's "Internet Security 2010" and I got it by clicking on a message from a friend on facebook.

As well as trying Malwarebytes, Superantispware and Seach and Destroy without success, I've done a Hijack This. Would you be able to tell which of these processes need to go?

Many thanks for all your assistance, it's really appreciated.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winupdate86.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\winupdate86.exe

This needs fixing, not deleting. Deleting will stop you accessing the internet.
O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: c:\windows\system32\winhelper86.dll
Download lspfix from here, and run the program.

There are probably other tidyups that you can perform but the above are the major ones to remedy.

Many thanks for both replies, it's much appreciated, will try tomorrow. I've got two laptops beside each other, only one which can currently acces the Internet. Will I be able to download the software you mention onto a pendrive and then transfer from the working to the infected machine?

    Whats 'OXIGEN' do?

Whats the 'Widget by Air France' do?

Your security has seriously failed you by the way

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM FULL SCAN then click SCAN
Post the log COMPLETE here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds

you must have a good IT department at your workplace then...... :p

i think network associates is based on mcafee so that might explain why it got badly infected.

that oxigen thing looks like it might be a screensaver (http://www.open.ac.uk/oulifescreensaver/p2.shtml)

    Thanks Erik/All,

The Air France Widget is some junk and I've deleted it. The Oxigen is a football club screensaver product.

I've deleted the ticked filed but still can't get on the net so I can't get updates for Malwarebytes.

However, I'm currently performing a system scan and will put the log on when it finishes.

I suspect 'oxigen' is part of the problem then

    TICK these in hijack ~
    C:\Program Files\Oxigen\bin\Oxigen.exe
    C:\Program Files\Oxigen\bin\OxiTray.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\mike.mcgeary\Local Settings\Application Data\Djingle\Widget by Air France\bin\WidgetAirFrance.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [OxigenClientAdmin] "C:\Program Files\Oxigen\bin\Oxigen.exe"
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [OxigenTrayIcon] "C:\Program Files\Oxigen\bin\OxiTray.exe"
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [airfrance] "C:\Documents and Settings\mike.mcgeary\Local Settings\Application Data\Djingle\Widget by Air France\bin\autorun.lnk"

I assume you already had malwarebytes on your computer then?

You really need to get things downloaded (OR use another computer and transfer over)

You can also try rebooting and pressing the F8 key to get into SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING

UPDATING and running a FULL scan with malwarebytes is priority

    also ~
    Download HostsXpert
    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Security-Related/Hoster.shtml
and then follow the below steps.

    * Unzip HostsXpert.zip
    * It will create a folder named HostsXpert in whatever folder you extract it to.
    * Run HostsXpert.exe by double clicking on it.
    * click the Make Writeable? button.
    * click Restore Microsoft's Hosts File and then click OK.
    * Click the X to exit the program

It's all looking very, very good. I'm back on the Internet and now typing on the affected computer for the first time.

Was able to update MalwareBytes and run again and it took a lot more malicious stuff off.

I will now try the softpedia link. Here's the latest MB log...
