Marks and Spencer credit vouchers beware!

Is anyone else having trouble using M&S credit vouchers ?

A while ago i returned some clothes and because I didn't have the receipt I was given credit vouchers instead. All fine so far ...

But then I made the mistake of folding the voucher to put it in my purse which made the barcode unreadable. And because the barcode won't scan the voucher is unuseable

Some more helpful staff have tried to enter the number instead into the till but this doesn't work either. The voucher is still well inside the expiry date. So I rang Head Office and they told me to go back to the store concerned.

The voucher is worth nearly £60 !

So the moral is watch out when buying Xmas presents at M&S this year -your nearest and dearest might not get a refund if you don't give them a receipt and they get credit vouchers instead !!!

I have also had trouble with M&S vouchers. Last year I bought something, and paid with vouchers. The change- which was the best part of £10- was supposed to be put on a voucher card. Instead, I was handed a receipt. I was told this had replaced the cards, and has the same value etc etc.

I queried this, but the sales assistant got rather irritated by me and assured me all was above board. Thankfully I tried to spend the 'receipt' later the same day (different SA)- and surprise surprise- it was refused. Because it was the same day, the manager was able to trace the original transaction (somehow), and I got my money back.

    Anyway- beware shoppers.

I absolutely HATE vouchers! They are win-win for the shops, but a real nuisance for the rest of us.
