Train Cost Help Needed Plzzzzzzz.. :D
Hi,
Well I am glad to say I got a job that I wanted and I am very happy for that.
One thing I am not happy about is the cost its going to cost me to get there... hence why I have came here to try and get some advice on what to do to make it "cheaper".
Before people say read this thread and that thread... I have read them and tried what it says but don't fully understand what would be the best cheapest ticket for myself.
I do own a railcard..... 16-25 (25 in feb but I can use it till am 26???).
Ok my journey is Runcorn to Liverpool South Parkway to Birchwood.
Today my journey cost (off peak fair !...) £9.70.
On peak will cost me £12.00 a day if am right...? (Think that includes my railcard, as well..)
Now if I am right here if its £12.00 on peak thats...
£12.00 * 5 (for the week) = £60 - For the week...
£60.00 * 4 (Depending on how many weeks in month, 4 or 5) = £240.00 (4 Week) or £300.00 (5 week).
Now thats alot of money on just getting to work !!!!, surely there must be a way to get this cheaper !!
Thank you in advance
Daz

Ok,
Just found out about the "weekly" saver option....
Here goes...
Runcorn to Liv South Parkway - 18.60 (For Week !)
Liv South Parkway - Runcorn 34.70 (For Week !)
Total Weekly - £53.30
Saving - £6.70 per week....
Surely there must be a cheaper way.......0 -
I thought there would be a direct train to Birchwood and if not then defitnatly Warrington. Could you not get the train to Warrington Central then a bus out? (bus station is next to train station)Married 1st October 2015:heartpuls
1st Baby due June 2016 :happylove0 -
You could try this, however, there is a catch you have to walk from Warrington Bank Quay to Warrington Cenral station (10mins-15mins) and go from Runcon East instead of the mainline Runcorn station.
Runcorn East to Birchwood via Warrington Bank Quay/Central Season ticket
7 Days £21.80
1 Month £83.80
3 Months £251.20
6 Months £502.30
12 Months £872.00
This is a season ticket so is valid for Peak time travel, there no further discounts available for your 16-25 railcardWhoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -
I'm not that familiar with Runcorn, but could you travel from 'Runcorn East' Station instead of 'Runcorn' ?
According to this, a weekly season ticket from Runcorn East to Birchwood costs £21.70 (from the New year - down 10p) but you can't get a season ticket between Runcorn and Birchwood

Only snag is that you travel via Warrington, and have to walk between Warrington Bank Quay and Warrington Central stations
[Edit - Livingthedream's just beaten me to this - we were obviously typing at the same time! ]l0
