Printer Buying Advice Pls

My Lexmark X1100 has recently started having feeding paper problems, and I'm looking to buy a new printer.
At the moment, I'm a Uni student so I'm printing off quite a bit, both black and in colour. I've got used to having a scanner on the lexmark, so would be looking for a 3 in 1 model.
I've been advised to go for a lazer printer, but when looking at the prices for a colour one it does seem to be out of my budget.
I'd like to spend about £200 for a decent one that'll last me. I don't mind looking at inkjet ones if I can find one that'll be cost effective
Can anyone direct me in the right direction. Thanks
Heather

A laser is a good optin if you only require black and white printing but as you'ce discovered colour lasers can be pricey.
If you do go for an inkjet make sure you check out the cost of cartridges before you buy. There are many inkjets that are cheap to buy but cost a fortune to run.
Toner cartirdges for lasers can also be very expensive so again check the cost of them before buying. It's my problem, it's my problem

check the price of the ink cartridges first they vary £10-£60
you may buy a cheaper printer but end up paying loads for the top up inks
we just brought a brother mfc7320 more expensive printer but have the cheaper top up inks0 -
I am sure many inkjets are sold at a loss, but the money is recouped on the cartridges. Costs per page are the thing to check, rather than initial price.Je suis sabot...0

check ebay for compatibles i use INK-POWER personally, great ink.
reasonably priced to. If you do go along the lines of an ink-jet take a look at epsons. I have the sx200 3in1 printer, paid £45, and the compatibles where £10.30 i think, for 14 of them. 3 of each color and 5 blks.
