Money found in the loft

The friend could just keep the money where it is and on the eve of the old bank-notes stopping being legal tender deposit the cash then. It could have been given to the friend by their deceased granny some time ago but Bad Karma could come back and bite them on the bum one day. I couldn't do it: who knows, perhaps the dead old lady's beneficiaries are on their uppers right now and could do with a decent Christmas present. If the lady died intestate with no surviving relatives that would be a different matter. To me, at least.0

If your friends bank wont accept/change the notes then the bank of england will.
The old lady obviously didnt trust anyone close enough to her, to tell them the money was hidden up there.
keep it and enjoy it!0 -
I would check with your solicitor.
As for the karma argument, well aren't the vendors supposed to clear the property before it is sold.
I have bought a property where there was huge amounts of stuff was left in the loft, all junk that it cost me to get rid off.0 -
Those were my thoughts too Googler! I suppose the banknotes might give away the likely time period from the design and checking the Land Registry or pre-registration deeds might give the period the previous occupant owned the house but still hit and miss I would have thought.0

...either that or wanted it to be a nice surprise for someone some day.
Might have lost her faculties in her later years and forgot/was unable to tell her relatives it was there.0 -
maybe it wasnt the old lady's money, maybe it was there before her, or maybe another person who lived in the house
do what you think is best...Work to live= not live to work0 -
hard to say... but, best way not to raise suspicion is split it up, don't go in all at once... lol...
few different people , few diff accounts, don't forget the money could be from an armed raid on a post office 20 years ago... could be tricky questions if the money was marked... etc.
but what the eyes don't see the eyes wont miss... SPEND IT!Plan
