It will all be fine. Make sure you follow the CAG way of doing it to the letter. You will get all your charges back, plus interest plus expenses if it goes that far. Accept nothing less, its your money that they have taken.

'I acknowledge your letter requesting specific information on your account with us and confirm that copies of dulicate statements haev been ordered and will be sent under seperate cover.

With regard to your request for information relating to manual intervention on your account, HBOS plc is under no staturory obligation to record this information and therefore, i am unable to assist you further with your request.'

  • i have had my first reply from halifax this mornig after sending them a letter claimig £5,443.
they said sorry to hear you are a dissatisfied customer but as a token of good will we are offering you £1,443 gesture,
my next step is to threaten them with court so it does pay to stand up to them, good luck..
  • Hi

Have made 2 successful claims against the Halifa, both times I had to issue court proceeding before they paid up. They havent yet closed my account.

Just to add CAG site is fantastic for information or advice. Good luck!

Its the Counsumer Action website - the link in an above post. They really help you each step on the way in claiming back the charges - I successfully got £860 refunded from the Halifax - all that I claimed. They can guide you each step of the way and have templete letters for you to send. You will need to start your own thread on the Halifax part of the site but the people on there are great and will guide you in the right direction.

Here is the link for the Halifax part of it:-

You'll notice stickys etc just like on here but if you go further down the page you will see peoples case, normally entitled **** vs Halifax. I would recommend you have a read of some of these threads as they are very useful.

Alos, here is a link to the step by step instructions on how to go about reclaiming charges but like i said, try and spend some time reading the threads as these will help a lot.:-

    http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/faqs-please-read-these/31460-example-step-step-instructions.html

Edit: forgot to say that you should reject the offer and go ahead for the full amount, the letters for doing this are here:-

    http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bank-templates-library/25716-rejecting-offers.html

Sorry forgot to say you need to register with the CAG to view the letters I think
