Having read the article on reclaming bank charges, I have decided that i am going to take on my bank to get the money they have taken from me since being with them.
I am just wondering if anybody else has taken on the Halifax and if they had any success!
thanks in advance

i have been successful.... i found the cag website to be invaluable
https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk
they have everything you need and a forum specific to halifax customers
Good luck0 -
i haven't been successful yet, but i am claiming back charges - they have just replied to my request for a list of charges that i have paid, saying i will get duplicate statements in the next 2-3 weeks. I'll let you know how it goes!!0

I am trying to get my other half to claim back charges from the Halifax because they have taken loads off him.
He is worried that they will turn round and close his account... has the Halifax done this to anyone or are they fairly good?
Also do they pay up fairly early on or have people had to start court proceeding etc? It would be good to know so that I can show him how easy it could be.
Thanks

i don't know whether Halifax would close the account but i figure they could make life difficult, withdraw overdrafts, generally be a pain, so i would open another account just in case.0

I got money back from both the current account and credit card sides
Check out the cag site as suggested above for letters, what the law states and why they are breaking it so can know WHY you are claiming the money back

Hmm.. good point but I wonder how much hassle they would cause when they know that he has a fairly hefty savings account with them and his mortgage as well......Debt free date - June 2008 :T :T :T0

Halifax were great with me. Even on the phone the lady I spoke to was nice. No threats to close account (even though I hardly use it anymore anyway). My letters were always answered promptly and even if they didn't say what I wanted them to say (ie. full refund on the way). In fact I am thinking of moving my dealings back to them as I dont think that my bank know what good customer service is. They paid up shortly after acknowledging my moneyclaim file. I think all cases will have to go that far now.

I have just filed a claim with the Small Claims Court in Edinburgh to get back over £2400 in charges over the last 5 years. In Scotland you must keep each claim under £750 so I will need to make 4 claims one after the other.
The Halifax offered me £750 as a full and final offer, I declined.
The CAG ( http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk ) has been amazing and helped at every stage.Enter Action with Boldness.....0 -
