Not sure if this is the right place to post.
My bro has just passed his theory, and now we need to look at lessons. He lives in the city so theres loads of choice.
So i have a few questions:
1)Is there any specific questions we should be asking the dring school/ instructor?
2)Are all instructors trained to the same level, if so why are the prices so different?
3)Are we best paying more per lesson, will he get a "better quality lesson"?
4)Is it best to go with a known school like Bsm or AA or are independent just as good?
Sorry about these questions but ive been drivivng for 15 years and things have changed alot!!!
I seem to remeber there were grades of driving instructors but im not sure if thats the case now.
I want him to take quality lessons even tho he wants to pass quickly in the next few months, I want to know he has been taught well, as he will have the kids in the car!

Sorry, but nothing has changed in regards to the questions (and their answers) you pose over the last 15 years ... or even longer."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100

1. Ask to see what grade the instructor is and what his first time pass rate is, his overall pass rate means nothing as some of his pupils may have sat and failed several test before finally passing.
2. Instructors are trained to the same level but that does not necessarily mean they are all the same, they are graded from 1 to 6 according to their ability and skill to instruct, grade 6 being the highest and best.
3. It is a very competitive market the better instructors can generally charge more, avoid the cowboys that offer 10 or 20 lessons for a few quid.
4. the best way to find an instructor is through personal recommendation, there are good and bad instructors with the major driving schools as well as independents, if you do not get on with the instructor or are not satisfied with his teaching even with the big driving schools change instructor the main thing is remember you are the customer.0 -
