  • This message means there is a problem with the ntfs file system on your pc in particular the ntfs.sys file which enables computers to read/write to ntfs partitions.

If you can access the recovery console try running 'chkdsk /r' (without the appostrophes!). This will check the file system and attempt to resolve and errors.

Failing that take a look on the all knowing Google for the stop error, I'm sure there will be more in depth descriptions of the problem there! :o)
    Useful is beautiful
  • Run Recovery Console by inserting your Windows OS CD, Press R when asked. Select the OS partition (1 or 2), type your logo on password.

    Exit and restart.
  • i dont know if i have the cd ?

We have tried the chkdsk C: /r using recovery console which didn't help. The only other thing i can really think of is to connect it to another machine either by HDD caddy or inserting straight into another machine.
Had a similar problem with a friend which turned out to be malware/virus issues.
Sometimes i surprise myself by being right.

Have a look at this article, and at the Microsoft article it points to. Ignore the comments about Windows 2000 - it's the file system which is relevant!
