Problem with purchase

Please help!
I bought four items from a foreign website and paid via Paypal (it was one of the payment options, and as I didn't know the website, I thought it was the safest option in terms of protecting my ID).
Anyway, the items arrived, and three of them are faulty (two don't work entirely). The seller originally acknowledged my concerns, but has since stopped communicating.
I therefore put in a claim to Paypal who, once I had gone through the motions say it is not covered by their protection system, but they had noted my concerns and would look into them if they had more complaints about the site. I therefore contacted Barclaycard by phone who said there is nothing that they can do either.
Any ideas or am I stuffed (in the technical sense)? We're talking about a £230 purchase of which about £60 worth actually work.
Thanks for any tips.

Hey I have just had the same problem. I ordered a £140 suit form Men's USa.com for my husband for his birthday. He is 6'1". They sent the wrong style suit and it will only fit my 5'8" 12 year old. Paypal dont want to Know for the same reason, if I had bought through ebay then I would be ok but I didnt
. Again i thought that using Paypal was a safe option. There was no option for international customers to use credit cards. The company state that they have a return policy but are not answering my emails to them. i know it is the holiday period so am holding out on the hope that they have closed for the holidays and will give me an authorisation code to return the item as soon as xmas is over

Sorry to hear I'm not alone. I hope you get it sorted.
Did your credit card company say the same thing about not being able to help where a payment is made via Paypal?0 -

I don't like PayPal at all. In Holland you can only withdraw from there if your balance is more than 100. They don't offer a card, which is a basic must have and their exchange rate is absolutely unfair.0
