Hiring a car over Christmas

Hi, I'm looking to hire a car at short notice, over Christmas, ie from 24/12/2009 to 29/12/2009.

Two adults, two children and some luggage. A Focus or similar should be fine.

I'm 36, clean licence. Manual transmission preferred.

Cheapest deal seems to be about £120. Does that sound about right?

Thanks

£190 is the best I've found doing a quick search so yours sounds good. Who's that with?

Try enterprise, i would have thought about £20 per day. They have a christmas speial offer on and are always needing to rent lots of cars over the break.Find the branch that is close to the airport, but no tthe airport branch. Airports take a commision for every days rental , so this is passed on to you, with a £3-5 per day or more. So buy renting offsite you save.

and ring them up, rather than web book. Start by asking for the cheapest deal, and then let them "sell you up". will normally be cheaper and you can haggle a bit because the upgrade goes towards the sales figures of the person on the phone,

Thanks and yes it is Leeds airport

My quote was with Alamo from 'North Leeds' (Horsforth) not far from the airport

Thanks for another prompt response. I'll try to phone Enterprise tomorrow. The do seem to be sold out of all cars at some of their Leeds branches already. Hopefully that's a computer glitch!

They are never sold out. They move them form other branches, and over xmas they have more than half the fleet return, so you should be ok. Also if you are ok driving an Automatic, mention this, but book a manual. means you may get a free upgrade if they have one, and autos can be bigger cars, cos more people want a premium auto, than an auto astra.
