winter warning regarding your insurace cover

Only get a hire car as a last resort, if you can manage without one DO NOT get one, the risks of not getting the hire costs back are too big to ignore.
ONLY get a hire car (if you absolutely have to) whilst you are expediently arranging for your car to be repaired. You cannot hang about, you MUST get your car repaired (at YOUR cost) very quickly. If your car is driveable then drive it, do not hire for the sake of vanity. Get two repair quotes -if possible- and go with the cheaper one.
After the this you can reclaim your costs from their insurer. Although if I were you I would be talking to them now to ask them if they have any suggestions for a quick no hassle repair at their cost.
Happy to see post #10 seems to have got you what you needed by talking to their insurer. That's the only scenario I would have gone for a hire car - if the other insurer offered one at their cost-0 -
I used helphire a few years back - they gave me the chance to pay £10 for an insurance policy that would cover all their costs in the event that they could recover their costs thus my maximum exposure was £10.
Never needed it though as they recovered all costs0
