Hi

I currently live with my parents and im 18.

Im thinking about moving out when i turn 19 or 20.

So im doing all my planning and saveing up now

Unfortunatly the docters have told me I cannot work so i am on Benerfits.

Living with parents is getting abit cramped because i have other family members living here.

I need help/ advice/ tips/ anything realy on what i would need.

Like I would need to furnish the flat, Where is the best place to get furniture?
( I wouldnt mind 2nd hand furniture at first untill i could get new!)

But things like,

cheap Gas companys / electric companys
( Because i would like to have a home recording studio that will use quite abit of electric)

Home Phone, TV, Broadband etc,

I have family that are electricians, Builders, Plubers, Designers, Brick Layers, Carpenters. So most of the furnature ( Desks Tables TV Stands, Wall Units etc etc ) I can get custom built for me cheap/ free as a moving in presant.

Or anything i havent mensioned that you could add

Any advice would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks alot

Have a good Xmas and New year everyone!!

Scott

If you find any of the above cheap, be sure to let us know won't you.

Seems a bit sad that at such a tender age you cannot work (?forever). You are obviously able to use a computer, is it not possible with the right support and training you can work in some form or another? The reason I have picked up on that is that you have said the doctors have told you you cannot work, rather than you simply saying you are unable to work.

27 col what kind of a response is that? The op is looking for some advice not sarcastic comments. If you have nothing productive to say why bother posting? Honestly!

OP you will need to work out a realistic budget - how much money have you got coming in on a monthly basis? You will then need to work out a realistic budget based in your outgoings e.g rent, gas and electric costs, food, water rates etc. If you are on DLA you should be able to get support with housing and council tax benefits etc. It wont be easy - I've been there myself. Maybe approaching your local citizen advice bureau may be able to help you with looking at you income and likely outgoings and signpost you to other appropriate services.

Try contacting you local YMCA and or local christian furniture projects as sometimes they are able to other second hand furniture on the cheap. Your local connexions service may be able to point you in the right direction.

I agree with the other poster too - are you able to do some form fo part time work? It may be your just not suitable for doing some types of job but that doesnt necessarily mean you cant do any jobs.

    Merry Christmas :A

For your information Becky, I was not being sarcastic, flippant, maybe. I repeat my comment, if anyone knows of a cheap electrical/gas supplier then will they let us all know.
If the op is banking on finding one he/she is going to be quite disappointed. I do have a certain amount of sympathy for the situation of the op. It is laudable they he/she is looking to set up for themself. Without knowing the details of the health problem it is difficult to say much. Though I believe that many people with health problems are able to earn some sort of a living.
OP. Becky is giving good advice, consider it carefully. What you need to do is to accumulate as much information from as many sources as possible.
