USB TV Tuner not working

I have recently been trying to get a USB TV Tuner working on my PC.
However, with two of the three USB tuners I have attempted, the tuner does not seem to detect any channels during the 'scan' stage. The other USB tuner had other issues (driver didn't work).
Is there anything I can try to get a signal? I have been using the aerial which comes with the tuners (small weasly ones) and I do not have an external aerial connection from my bedroom.
Or should I just give up?

The aerial that comes with it is cack, it'll only pick up signal in the strongest area. Best bet is to get another aerial - but rooftop aerial is idealSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

I have to use a roof mounted aerial to scan channels but once they are scanned I can watch using aerial supplied with tuner.0

....tho you should hang on to the USB tuner as i hear they are quite useful with a laptop if ever you stay in a hotel room and want to tune into all the pay per view channels without needing to worry about the 'pay' bit

Unfortunately nearly all the USB tuners are rather insensitive and a strong signal is needed. The units may come with an adapter to allow the standard TV aerial plug to connect, you could try one of the portable aerials that are available, perhaps even one with a built in amplifier.0

Why don't you just use TVCATCHUP.COM.
It's free to register and you get all the tv on Freeview streamed to your pc."...IT'S FRUITY!"0 -

If you're staying somewhere without wifi or a network connection that wouldn't work, and if, like me, you're in a terribly slow broadband area and getting throttled to death around the clock, streaming isn't viable.
But I may have a look at that site on a good connection day
