Definitely not laminate in the bathroom. Not only slippery but also can get mouldy unless you use the really expensive stuff and special glue.
Everything else sounds good though. If the bathroom suite is in good condition I would leave it. We rent out a house with a cream coloured suite, have never had difficulty finding tenants and have not had any complaints about its colour.

Grab a couple of the House Doctor books from your local library and you won't go far wrong (ignore her advice about using seagrass though; horribly scratchy on the feet, anything dropped on it gets ground right into it, it's a pain to lay and to vacuum, and it's too slippery to use for stairs).

Alternative to ceramic tiles are vinyl tiles such as Karndean or Amtico - if you like the look of wood, they do wood-effect planks that won't be damaged by water, and they have a slight roughness to the pattern that helps make them non-slip.

    Thanks Tawnyowl

I like the idea of Karndean with the look of laminate.
