Problems with my new freeview box

Hi all,
Tried googling my problem but I can't find anything that fits properly.
I've just bought a freeview box with Hard Disc recorder and it's got a terrible signal.
The picture keeps pixelating and freezing, as does the sound. It happens the same on all channels and is worse on recorded programs.
The thing is, my old freeview box is fine, and has been for ages. Also this is the second box I've tried from this company with the same problem - they sell reconditioned ASDA boxes on Amazon and have good reviews, plus their returns were excellent, so I don't think it's a bad product.
Given that the set up is not changing, bar the box that's used, I don't know what the issue is.
Any ideas?

It sounds as though the signal level and quality are not adequate. Some makes/models of freeview box are more sensitive than others, which may explain why your old one could cope but the new one can't.
Depending on how good your aerial currently is, you may need a better one, or an aerial amplifier may help.0 -
I agree with fwor some models are better than others. I had an old Goodmans freeview box that finally died but had been fine in the past. I bought a newer model Goodmans thinking that the old one was fine so sticking with Goodmans was a good choice but the new model was pixelating and freezing, even with the same aerial etc... I then bought a TVOnics model and have been happy with it ever since.0

Is it on all channels or just some? On one box I have since Granada swithcover, any ITV or Channel 5 programmes freeze and skip and pixelate but on BBC, they're fine.0
