Receipts really don't take up a lot of room. The paperless thing I understand up to point....but it's not really paperless if it has been printed in the first place though is it? Also when the inevitable happens and your HD begins the 'clunks of death' and you lose everything since your last backup (which we all do religiously!). I like the idea of doing both actually! Scan ,in case you lose the original and keep the original in case you lose the file!0

I'd actually started scanning anyway since I can always shred later as you say. The paperless bit comes in reducing the paper I have. I've saved loads of room in getting rid of my statements actually and there was no reason to keep them. As for backing up, who do you think wrote the backing up guide on the techie board?
But I only have so much space and so I'm looking for the stuff I actually can get rid of. To be fair there's probably a lot of receipts hanging around that I could throw and forget anyway (e.g. for books, I'm a bit of a bibliophile which is quite ironic since I want to be paperless)."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I already get all financial stuff (statements etc) digitally now anyway. All my instructions etc are filed in separate labelled folders already although at least nowadays more and more are in a digital or online format anyway. All warranty registrations etc I do online where possible.
I mean I'm not talking about really really important stuff to have in original form (certificates etc). I'm aiming toward zero but I'm a realist and don't expect to have no paperwork at all. But my filing drawer is already full and I've got piles of paper besides.
ok then
scan these details and save them digitally
BUT
back 'em up
