Obviously they would all have benefited if they had known of this forum's existence, but it's too late now. ;)

Can't take it with you :)
  • Modigliani died in terrible poverty and his pregnant partner leapt to her death on hearing the news, very very sad. He's one of my favourite artists and his work is now worth millions.

Two old actors here for you: Basil Rathbone & Will hay I believe struggled in later life allthough this could be due to being type-cast.

    True in every way. :D
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Will Hay did not die in poverty, he was highly successful in later life, he was a fully qualified pilot and very successful and accomplished astronomer, discovering a feature on Saturn and a Supenova. He was made a member of the Royal Astronomical Society and was quite wealthy.
Did suffer from ill health later in life though.

Perhaps it was the ill health bit I read in the paper that stuck in my mind.:o

Think I remember reading somewhere that Joe Louis, the boxer, and Bela Lugosi, the Dracula actor, both died penniless as well.

Interesting about Will Hay, I didn't know that, going to look him up to get some more info - thanks for that.
:) The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time :)
