Hi there, not all manufacturers provide re-installation discs with laptops etc (mine didnt). Instead for recovery purposes some have partitions on the hard disk that can be accessed in time of need. Others may have a program installed where you can create your own recovery dvd.

The reason i'm thinking that they forgot to put it in the box is that both my old and new laptop are made by Advent and as well as the disc not being there, neither were the 3 manuals that it said should have been in there0

Usually if it is a recovery partition only there will be a procedure to take a backup of that recovery partition to DVD(s). This is well worth doing otherwise if the disk fails mechanically that well known creek gains another paddle-less voyager.
Some netbooks don't provide that option as they have no optical drive so you really need to make your own arrangements to take a backup which you can restore should the hard drive fail.0 -
By law they have to provide one. Conact the manufacturer and they will send you one out.
Also if you ever check the serial key is different on the os to the stiker on the laptop

You had better make sure that a Recovery Partition has been made by the manufacturer on the laptop's Hard Drive IMO; and further I would absolutely verify that the RP works - don't take this for granted! If the answer to either is No, get this sorted immediately and verify the approval of the W7 DVD.
*IIRC you may be entitled to a Windows 7 DVD at cost from the manufacturer of your laptop (I think it's minimal, circa £20). *

Their source material: Hard Drive Recovery, F8 to start recovery environment .
But verify immediately that it functions properly! Do so now. Restart the machine, and before it gets to W7 splash screen keep the F8 key pressed. Do you see the recovery partition? What options does it provide.
It's busenbust;)0 -

^Have you carried through with that also?0 -
Ok the options were
Repair your pc
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with networking
Safe Mode with command prompt
ENable boot logging
Enable low res video
Last known good configuration
Directory service restore mode
Debugging mode
Disable auto restart on system failure
Disable driver signature enforce.
Does that help? 0
